Something good

From when I was a little girl I dreamed of being the love of someone's life,
and I can thank my parents for that one.
This is not to be confused with "I'm a lonely teenage girl craving love from someone;"
But when you've been ridiculed, critiqued and put on the back burner
for your whole life,
You want something good.
You want someone to appreciate you for who you are and not for sex, and who your friends are.
You want someone to love you for the skin that you’re in and not feel inferior to your friends, who are models.
You want someone to call you beautiful and mean it, not to expect something in return.
I want something good.
